One Year

Today marks the day we first posted something on this domain RUNFFM.COM
That was one year ago, when we started this blog we just thought that it would be a nice idea to have something like a scrapbook online where we just file everything that we find in some way interesting, cool or inspirational.
For us that is sneakers, gaming, design, art, music, toys, movies, travelling, photography, videos, filmmaking, sports and alot more too much to mention.

Its basically our brains splattert accross this blog haha.
We will keep that spirit up and also do our best to step it up a notch for 2010 !

Also we made posts about our trips to different countries like the USA, Egypt and Japan.
Make sure to check out our 2009 round up post on our travels or just browse through our archives for the liveblogging experience.

About travel blogging I will soon visit Tokyo again and I’ll make sure to put up some vlogs too in the usual fashion, this time I will try to focus more on retro gaming in Japan since I’m a big fan of old videogames and videogame systems, especially the ones that never came out in our area.

I also want to thank the people that supported our blog and to everyone who helped spreading the word on facebook! Also big thanks for everyone who posted a link to our page recently.
That is much appreciated and dont be a stranger say hi sometimes!

Special shoutout to DJ Kitsune make sure to check out his blog and his mixshows on JamFM.

Another shoutout to the Beastin crew check out their lookbook, its amazing photography!

Like DJ Kitsune already said in his post about us, its always good to have the ambition to conquer the world but you should not forget your roots.

To another great year!
Representing Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

peace

Toys R Evil.

Around Christmas, I got a package from Andy, who runs the blog Toys R Evil, with some nice vinyl toys in it. He sent them to me, because I was the 700th @ToysREvil follower on twitter and didn’t wanna make a big deal about it. But I think I can at least write this post as appreciation and of course to show you these little friends and also what I got on our last trip to Tokyo.

Let’s start with this Yoka out of Season 1, designed by Huck Gee, showing a little attitude.

It’s perfect because these are the colours of Frankfurt: black, white, red! Here it is in his natural position.

I found out that there is now a Toys R Evil online store and he even has his exclusive Yoka, that you can buy from there.

He included this vinyl toy as well: Molly Play To-Fu.

“Kids, if you watch too much television, your head will also turn into a TV.” Hahaha…

And then also included was this bubble keychain. :)

So, I wanna send a big thanks to Andy, who really has one of the illest blogs about vinyl toys. If you are into it, you should definitely check out his blog at www.toysrevil.net.

This post here also gives me the chance now to show you my other acquisitions from our trip to Japan last year, as I got these two King Kens.

But what I cherish the most are my Be@rbrick figures from Series 18 and also a Bape one by Medicom.

Chrishimself already told this story about how I got very lucky at the atmos store, as I was looking for the Tetris Be@rbrick and that was the only one I wanted! I asked them if I could just buy the one they had on display, since they only got one unopened box left. (For startest: It’s a little bit like Kinder Überraschung, so it’s a sursprise, what figure is actually in a box!) But he denied, so Chris convinced me to take my chance! I opened up the box and a Tetris Be@rbrick was in it! :) The staff at the shop was also freaking out. Haha…

There are also Hidden Be@rbricks in a series, so they are even more limited. I got this Spongebob one…

…and this one out of the Hidden Be@rbrick Series 18.

And of course, a Bape camouflage Be@rbrick should not be missing.

Here they are all together, having some fun.

And if that was not enough, Chris got incredibly lucky in Tokyo when it came to vinyl toys!!!

Urban Vinyl in Deutschland

German magazine STERN made this video about urban vinyl also known as “designer toys” for better understanding.
Urban vinyl is usually made in limited numbers and seen as a piece of art like a sculpture for example.
The market is still kinda “unknown” but prices can go up to a few thousand euro already for highly limited “toys”.

Some of the designers for urban vinyl are KAWS, Usugrow and Pushead.
I recently won an urban vinyl figurine by Secret Base designed by Pushead while I was in Tokyo, I heard it’s  highly limited of which (if I remember right) 10 were given out in a raffle if you buy something worth 5000 yen in the Secret Base store in Tokyo.  A rumor says that they made those out of some leftover glow in the dark vinyl ;).

They had to take a polaroid picture of every winner to place it on the store shelf, if you happen to be in Tokyo check out the Secret Base store and look for the polaroids and say “Hey I know the guy from RUNFFM.COM” ^^; .

I really dig the design it has so many details and it glows orange in the dark ! ;).

In the video Selim Varol shows his huge urban vinyl collection, the video says he has the biggest collection in europe so far. Selim Varol is best known for the book Toy Giants which you might have seen in one or the other bookstore already.

Unfortunately the video is only in german and without subtitles but I hope you enjoy it anyway.
