Wow. Just saw this incredible good video for Macklemore‘s song ‘Wings’ over on sneakerb0b‘s blog. The story of the song captures so many aspects of sneakerism and lets you really think about it. A definite must-see!!
I have really been a Gilbert Arenas fan since his days as a Golden State Warrior, as soon as I read a story about him growing up under harsh circumstances, namely sleeping for a period of time in the car of his dad, about him not getting any respect, when he entered college and made it to the NBA (thus choosing the number 0, because that’s the amount of minutes that “everyone” thought he would get). He even felt he was so bad (WHILE HE WAS ALREADY AN NBA PLAYER!), that he joined a local church league in San Francisco. Until the Warriors got word of it, of course. Then in his Wizard days he hit a whole array of incredible buzzer beaters with his not-to-be-destroyed confidence, he also had his super entertaining blog on NBA.com, his own adidas signature sneakers and so on.
Then came the troubles in the last few years culminating in a gun incident, and so he entered the season without a shoe deal, but that way he was able to rock whatever dope kicks he wanted to. This included lots of J’s (like the Space Jams pictured below) and even a pair of Dolce&Gabbana shoes in a game against the Lakers.
That’s the biggest dream for a sneaker head to showcase them at that stage, so even if his team got eliminated from the Playoffs, this makes him the ultimate SNEAKER CHAMP. That’s also his twitter name by the way: @thesneakerchamp and it’s all about the sneakers!!! You can also check which sneakers he wore for every game during the 2010-2011 NBA season on this site. Also SLAMonline.com has a nice gallery here.
And all of this really makes him someone to absolutely cheer for. At least to me.
To finally put an end on the Berlin posts I’m gonna show you, what I picked up during my stay there and we’ll move on with some more fun in the next few days, aight? :)
I really didn’t want to buy sneakers this time, but I didn’t know that the Air Jordan IX were 50% off at NIKETOWN, so I just had to.
Notice the “athletisch” on there :) Does anybody know what these other languages are??
There’s also something German on the right shoe: “anmutig”.
I also only noticed this glitter stuff, when I opened them at home. Funny. It somehow reminds me of the floor in the first modern busses we got in Frankfurt back in the 90s, because I was so amazed by it back then as a little kid.
Then, I also got me a shirt at the Civilist store by P.A.M., which is an Australian brand that I didn’t know of before, but I immediately fell for this design.
The backside.
At Firmament I discovered this Stüssy beanie, that perfectly goes along with the warm-up suit of my basketball team. I also got me some matching socks in other stores, but I will save them for our last game this year and rock them in Kronberg on Dec, 19th.
Gloves. This was a huge success, because last winter I didn’t have any gloves anymore. Don’t know, where they vanished, but I’m good for this year. And they were quiet helpful alreadyyy for the first snowball fights.
More shoes?? Yes, but little ones that I found at OVERKILL. This are the Tiffany Dunks and some Air Jordan I’s.
Here they are together with their big brother.
If you are in Berlin, I definitely recommend to check out the area around Torstraße. You will find SOTO, Firmament, Civilist, No.74, WOOD WOOD there among others. They even have this little cards to help you get around. OVERKILL was really some kind of overkill, because they had some dope stuff on display, so I most definitely recommend to go there, too. It’s in Kreuzberg.
That’s tough, right? But don’t worry, you don’t have to do so anymore, because there is a German version of Sneaker Freaker about to highlight the German sneaker scene. The site went online yesterday and the first mag will be dropping in two weeks on Dec, 16th. To prepare everyone for the hustle that is necessary to be one of the first to get it they made this dope video. :)
In Frankfurt the mag will be availble at the good guys from AZITA. See you there.
And all the best to the Sneaker Freaker team.
Basketball season starts tomorrow with our first home game, so I wanted to show you the kicks I will be playing in: the NIKE Zoom Hyperfuse XDR Photo Blue. I got them from the guys at KIX-FILES and I can absolutely recommend their services – I even didn’t have to pay any customs duties – and added them to our recommended shops list on the right column.
BAAAAAAAMMMM!!! Check out the label. I now even can PLAY LONGER. :)
Last weekend, the ADC Summit took play in Frankfurt at the Fair, ADC standing for Art Directors Club (Germany).
After I found out, that the guys from flaek footwear (Oliver and Sven) also had their shoe on display at the ADC Exhibition, I had to go. There is more than a little story behind this sneaker, because this shoe is the final project of their studies. It is called kaalen hi and I already blogged about it last September. So now being able to finally check it out in person, was quiet cool.
The material felt really nice and the shoe’s design is so fresh, so clean as you can see on the pics. What you also can see is the wooden box for the sneakers as well as the interchangeable tongues on the side. Right, now they are looking for a manufacturer to make a larger production.
Obviously, the guys were not really satisfied with the way things were presented here, as you can also see Flow from Bunnypop checking out some ridiculously long home improvement bill, that was laying right next to the sneakers from another project, while the posters for the sneaker were hanging on that side of the table.
But just imagine that cart at the home impovement center with all those goods worth 3,748.20 Euros…
Anywayz, you gotta take the hat off to Oliver & Sven for pushing that far and creating their own sneaker. You can only guess, how that feels, wearing your very own snekaer on your feet!! And I’m definitely in for a pair, guys!!
Finally, here are some other projects, that stood out to me.
This right here was called Swooshed. Basically, it would allow you to personalize the swoosh for NIKEiD products by being able to upload your own graphic.
I’m definitely rooting for this as I would also for this bottle of Vodka Absolut.
Also laying around randomly were these limited posters by Pixelhure, you can get at hhv.de for instance.
And I also liked that placard right here. Not only for the design, but if you know German, you’ll get it.
The ADC Summit is also taking place in Frankfurt the next two years, so hopefully there are going to be some cool new things to check out in 2011 and 2012, too.
For those of you, that can’t get enough of March Madness (by the way, you can watch the games here for free) or those that may not be interested at all, there is a Sneaker March Madness going on at SneakerNews.com.
Round 1 is already completed and many choices were obvious. The only hard decision for me was between the Air Jordan V and Air Jordan VI. Even though I don’t own any VI’s yet, I went with them because of the Infrared Pack, that is said to be dropping this year, but the V’s survived the first round. But I can’t believe the Air Max 90′s didn’t make it to the second round. Biggest upset in my opinion. And about the AF1′s I honestly didn’t care, because I don’t do AF1′s.
So, here are my choices in bold for Round 2, as they become much more harder:
DUNK SB MATCHUP #1: [1] PIGEON vs. [4] HEINEKEN
I also really like the Heineken one, but I don’t think the shoe made it to CBS news. MATCHUP #2: [2] TIFFANY vs. [3] SUPREME LOW
No brainer for me.
NIKE CLASSICS
> MATCHUP #1: [1] AIR MAX 1 vs. [5] AIR FOAMPOSITE ONE
After landing the biggest upset in Round 1, the Foamposite One cannot continue its Cinderella Story.
> MATCHUP #2: [2] AIR TRAINER 1 vs. [3] AIR MAX 95
I also gotta go with the Air Trainer 1 here, because that’s probably the shoe most people outside the sneaker scene approched me about. Not saying they all were sane, though.
AIR FORCE 1 > MATCHUP #1: [1] STASH vs. [4] WHITE ON WHITE
> MATCHUP #2: [2] PLAYSTATION vs. [6] KAWS
Don’t really care, but I’m rooting for the underdogs here. White on white is just classic and KAWS is KAWS.
AIR JORDAN
> MATCHUP #1: [1] AIR JORDAN III vs. [4] AIR JORDAN V
I rock the III’s every other day, so they get the nod, but I might underestimate the V’s again.
> MATCHUP #2: [2] AIR JORDAN XI vs. [3] AIR JORDAN IV
No matter how much I like my black/red IV’s, it’s the Space Jam Jordans after all, you know?
What are your choices?
Aaaaand…. did you realize these were all NIKE kicks?!??
A few days ago I got about 100 mails from hhv.de, but – mind you! – these were not spam mails, instead it was great news. Because they send you an email to inform you about the price change of the products on your wish list. And of course, they changed them for the costumer’s benefit. So, if you are looking for some new and affordable styles from their wide range of products, the time is now. Just click on the pic.
And while you’re at it and find something for me, it’s of course very much appreciated. LOL…
Hey, today we went to a little event called Fashion City West in Frankfurt am Main.
It was a sunday we had nothing else to do and a little time on our hands, the event was free and so we thought we should drop by and give it a quick run.
The only interesting thing at this fair/trade show was probably the booth of Freebase Records/Sneakers and we got the chance to check out some of their newest Nike quickstrike releases including the Parra Air Maxim 1+ and the Cassette Playa Dunk High, shoutouts to Robert of Freebase Sneakers at this point.
The guys from SNEAKERIZED (also check our previous post) returned from this year’s Sneakerness in Vienna with a nice little video that shows us what was going on there. Of course, sneakers of all brands and eras had been on display and also for sale, but also t-shirts, skate boards and street art. Bobbito even made his way to Austria as you can see in the videos, presenting his new model with Pro-Keds.
Through SNEAKERIZED I also found a link to Gaby Zwaan’s site, who made his own video. He has some incredible pieces of art. For real. Go and check out some of these here. Hopefully, we will have some more from him soon here on RUN FFM.
Hey People just heard about a new Air Max 90 drop at Footlocker and what almost looks like a re-release of the infamous Air Max 90 Infrared is in fact a solid, (a really solid) Air Max 90 release.
Its the Nike Air Max 90 Max Orange (as I would like to call it for now). It has some differences to the original infrareds like an orange swoosh, black and white soles, the grey is replaced with some white etc. but still its a nice sneaker. Check out the pictures, I’m still contemplating if I should get those.
Until now only availible at Footlocker in Europe pricetag is 134,99 Euro.
