I think its no news for those who are into this kind of music that korean popmusic is probably the most exported pop music within asia, first it was the korean drama tv shows that gained alot of fans in the other asian countries for its very melodramatic themes and now kpop is making its way to the west aswell.
More or less by an accident I found out about the group 2NE1 that recently released their first album in Korea.
A funny sidenote is that I remember one of the singers (Sandara Park the one with the weird hair lol) from her filmwork in the Philippines, good to see that she is having a career as popstar in Korea now, though the movies were always bad her acting was actually alright, as far as I could judge.
The reason I post this is that when I watched this video on youtube without understanding a word I was surprised to see that they work with Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas.
I guess we will be hearing more korean music in the future hopefully with less “weird english” lyrics ;-). Its always a question of taste but I think the beats and the production value has become
amazingly good over the years, its just a matter of time I guess.
This is the latest collaboration that “The Pacman” is in and I’m pretty sure that this is probably the coolest one (aside from the Nike Air Trainers maybe).
Urban Vinyl Toymakers MINDStyle worked together with Disney and Team Pacquiao to build these amazing collectable urban vinyl figures.
Mark B. who is currently in Manila and doing research for RUNFFM.com on pop-/subcultural events in the Philippines send us a few pictures from the items at the Team Pacquiao store in Manila.
The set sells for 25.000 peso (about ~415€) and is limited to only 300 pieces worldwide.
They also have a T-Shirt for about 1500 peso.
The Team Pacquiao store is located at Robinsons Place Ermita.
Mark our friend from the Philippines is currently doing some research for RUNFFM.com in Manila and I believe he is having alot of fun meeting lovely Paloma at the recent Kiks TYO x Clavel Mag event.
He is also doing some research for our new T-Shirt project and giving us some sample sneak peeks of course these are only for sample purposes but maybe you are able to get a few of those but they will be pretty limited, we will keep you posted.
Anyways thanks for all the local and international support! Big shouts to the Philippines!

If you are a fan of Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao and still need a T-Shirt to support him during his next fight (Whats up Mayweather?) you might want to check out these designs availible to those living in Manila via. GreyoneSocial.
When I was in the Philippines for about a year I didnt really notice that there was any local hip hop scene at all but there is one.
Check out this little documentary about the local street artists, unfortunately without subtitles so in order to understand something you have to speak tagalog but still quite watchable.
Check out Giant Robot Magazine an asian popculture print magazine founded by Eric Nakamura and Martin Wong in 1994 with alot of great content on asian actors, designers, artists, musicians, filmmakers and more.
Its released every two months and you can also subscribe from germany!.
Last year I went to the Philippines to study at a filmschool in Cebu for one year, it was perfect since I am half filipino and wanted to see the country my mother is from. I took alot of pictures during my stay in asia and here I want to share a few that I took with a small russian automatic film camera called the Lomo LCA. All these pics were taken on the way to the studio by foot and tricycle (small moped with extra seat on the side).
The Philippines is the biggest christian country in asia this little church was right in front of the place I used to stay, right in the middle of nowhere. I used to see some people holding a mess while walking by even at night sometimes.
This picture right here shows the little church that was right in front of the place I used to live in for almost a year in Cebu Philippines. The area looked a little creepy at night but it was really save, even though my apartment almost fell apart after a few typhoons that hit Cebu last year haha. I remember that I was asleep and heard something banging, I didnt care and thought something just fell down when I finally got up and went to the bathroom and saw that my ceiling in the shower had a huge hole! The ceiling just fell down, I was lucky I wasnt taking a shower when that happened.
picture was taken with a Lomo LC-A with black and white film but I think the photoshop processed it with chemicals for colorfilm or some low quality stuff haha it has a weird greenish effect.
This one here I took last year in a mall in Cebu, Philippines. I remember that it was around the time of Sinulog or another festival. Sinulog is the biggest festival in the Philippines, it can be compared to a carneval where people are partying in the streets watching the parade where they worship the Santo Niño.
