Here’s a nice & laid-back mash-up track, that combines Adele’s “Chasing Pavements” with Jay-Z & Kanye West’s “Never Change“, for an easy Sunday morning.
A few days ago – on Tuesday to be exact – I was at the Aloe Blacc concert at mousonturm here in Frankfurt. The place was really packed and people were going crazy. By the way, also peep this dope shirt by AZITA!!!!
I also met two former b-ball teammates. One of them is aware of RUN FFM, while the other one was not. So he was going like “Yo Schulz, wuddup with your lifestyle, man?!? See you running around town with Americans and stuff!” The last time I had seen him was last year, when we were actually running around town with DJ Neil Armstrong and since the mood was alreadyyy at an unbelievable high, I said “Oh, you mean Jay-Z‘s DJ, right???” which only added to his freaked-out-ness. So he asked, how that went down and I just pulled out a RUN FFM sticker. – “OK, cool. So… how much do you get paid as radio host???” LMFAO…
That’s because many people only see and/or speak out the FM at the end. I didn’t have an answer for him nor do I have any right now, but one person, who should know is Nardwuar The Human Serviette, because he has his own radio show. But since he’s the fucking greatest interviewer of all time, he should be thrown all money at.
Why he really got money thrown at, is told by Nardwuar in this video of his TEDx presentation, that @chrishimself84 posted this video recently via his twitter. It’s just like his interviews: VEEEERY DIFFERENT. He has a unique style, but please check it out yourself. He tells how he was able to get an interview with some people, but the bottom line is: because he asked!!!
That’s also a great way to end your presentation, right?!? Might try that at university next time LOL.
I don’t remember how we stumpled upon him, but it has to be it an interview with some rapper. Obviously he has also interviewed many politicians, which is even doper, if you think about it. You can check out all vids on his YouTube Channel.
There has been lot of buzz lately around this guy, who was probably the most hated person last year, but blessed us with a materpiece this year. Not to defend his rants and all that stuff (UPDATE 31/12/2010: Even though Talib Kweli has some good points on all that in this interview here), but just to show you what he already did before becoming the celebrity he is today, I’m going to post some tracks Ye produced in his early days, that you might not really know about.
Aaaaaaaaaand here we go… (I hope you live in another country in Germany to be able to also listen to the songs. Otherwise there are also ways to avoid this UMG content message. * inducates songs that you can listen to in Germany.)
In 2004 his first album The College Dropout was released and this was the first time I ever heard about kanYe West. I still remember we would blast this album on our way to the courts in the summer as this was the first year me and my friends were allowed to drive.
2007 then marked the release of Graduation and I think you mostly know what he’s been up to since then. (If not, you might wanna check this Wikipedia entry.)
Yeezy will always be a guy I’m rooting for, because he just cares so much about his craft and I hope you enjoyed this week’s music post and got an idea what he already accomplished before starting to have his own records out.

This past weekend turned into a great one as DJ Neil Armstrong & DJ Passion were DJing on the roof top of the 25hours Hotel. They did a great set together and it was amazing to see how much fun they had doing so. And of course a big shoutout to all the party people for this incredible night on top of Frankfurt! Now, that was a first! The first player, that I used to coach, bought me a drink! Very much appreciated.
Yo, I was so hyped, when I got word of this today!!! DJ Neil Armstrong from NYC (Jay-Z’s Tour DJ in 2008/2009, global ambassador for adidas and overall good guy, who we’ve been following for years) is DJing at a party in Frankfurt on Saturday.
For more information on DJ Neil Armstrong, just check Chrishimself’s post on him.
Please come out to celebrate with us on the roof of one of the finer hotels in Frankfurt:

As I saw the trailer a few weeks ago, I already couldn’t wait for this little documentary NY-Z by director Danny Clinch, which is centered around Jay-Z‘s benefit concert at Madison Square Garden last year. It’s a little different from what I first expected, because it’s not all about the concert itself. That’s truly great, because it was nice to see something unexpected, combined with really dope visuals in this video.
From bricks to billboards. From Marcy to Madison Square. Enjoy.
As there is not much original concert content in it, I highly recommend to watch the complete concert from Sep, 11th, if you haven’t yet, so you can get an idea of the energy in the building as well as how Jay-Z connects with his audience. Especially how he does at the end – that’s what really standed out for me.
I had something in mind, when I posted that ‘ALLES AUSSER FRANKFURT IST SCHEISSE‘ shirt yesterday. (By the way, the only reasonable translation of that would be ‘FRANKFURT IS THE SHIT’, which is just the complete opposite, if you translate that literally!)
So after we learned, that Frankfurt/Mannheim based Crada produced KiD CuDi‘s song Hyyer for his debut album, we got some more news of that kind for you, because there is also a ‘Frankfurter Bub’ on Jay-Z‘s The Blueprint 3. Yap, who would have thought???
Every day a star is born, clap for ‘em, clap for ‘em, clap for ‘em: J.Cole it is (featured on the song A Star Is Born)!!! I was made aware of the fact that he was born in Frankfurt by this post on Dodger Hightop, where you can listen to the song that reportedly got him the first deal for an artist on Jay-Z‘s new label RocNation. More evidence on JCole’s fan site and his Wikipedia. And for now we will ignore the fact, that he moved back to the USA at the age of 1.
The first person to introduce me to J.Cole was my best friend Ben, who sent me this trailer for his mixtape The Warm Up. Since it was so simple, but still symbolic for stages in your life, we could relate to it not only for basketball reasons.
For more go to his website as I will close this post with this dope video for his song Simba, also shot by BBGUN.
And I wonder, who is the next one that was born in Frankfurt, we may not have heard about yet???
Today is really a special day with three great milestones, so I will have a post trilogy, just as the two albums, that were released on this day in Germany, are also part of a trilogy.
For KiD CuDi‘s debut album we get the preferential treatment compared to the US, where his album ‘Man on the Moon: The End of Day’ is due to release on September 15. I pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition on Amazon.de and look what I got in the mail this morning.
As you can see, the poster is inside. And the CD contains the Crookers Remix of Day ‘n’ Nite (by the way, a few days ago I found out about the second video for that version). So far, so good.
What was missing was the DVD, that should be in the Deluxe Edition. I checked back on the Amazon site and the page didn’t exist anymore. I wanted to call them, but then came an e-mail basically saying, that the manufacturer told them, that there won’t by any Deluxe Edition, which is shocking news to me (and maybe to you, too?). At least, I will get the remainig amount or I can send the CD back. It looks like the Deluxe Edition is available on hhv.de on September 18, so I’ll try that and hopefully get it eventually. There is even a trailer out there for the footage of the DVD, so c’mon, there has to be a Deluxe Edition. Right?? Right??
For those of you looking just for the CD, you can now get it there, too, including a limited KiD CuDi shirt. Although I must say, that there are KiD CuDi shirts out there, that rank higher in dopeness.
If you still didn’t decide to buy the album, you can have a listen here with the Album Sample by DatNewCudi.com (by the way, if you are looking for CuDi information, that’s the site right there!).
Also, ‘Blueprint 3′ dropped today in Germany, as it was originally planned in the US, too. Jay-Z will give a beneficial concert at MSG this evening, on exactly the same day ‘The Blueprint’ came out eight years ago (Yes, Sep 11, 2001). I think that is also a great advertising you can see below.
I like both albums, but I really love KiD CuDi’s album. In my opinion THE album right now! I listen to it all day. What’s your favorite?
