Just a quick question.

Which video for David Guetta’s and KiD CuDi’s ‘Memories’ do you like the most??

In my opinion it’s not even a question. You better know, which one gets my vote! ;-)

Akihabara Majokko Princess – directed by McG

Heres a little videoclip directed by McG (Terminator Salvation etc.) and produced by popculture artist Takashi Murakami (LV etc. I have some of his shortfilms up on this blog)

akibadunst1 Akihabara Majokko Princess directed by McG

It features Kirsten Dunst running around the electronic shopping otaku district of Tokyo called Akihabara singing the song “Turning Japanese” (made famous by the vapors) with a really colorful outfit on.

Toys R Evil.

Around Christmas, I got a package from Andy, who runs the blog Toys R Evil, with some nice vinyl toys in it. He sent them to me, because I was the 700th @ToysREvil follower on twitter and didn’t wanna make a big deal about it. But I think I can at least write this post as appreciation and of course to show you these little friends and also what I got on our last trip to Tokyo.

Let’s start with this Yoka out of Season 1, designed by Huck Gee, showing a little attitude.

toysrevil yoka 1 Toys R Evil.

It’s perfect because these are the colours of Frankfurt: black, white, red! Here it is in his natural position.

toysrevil yoka 2 Toys R Evil.

I found out that there is now a Toys R Evil online store and he even has his exclusive Yoka, that you can buy from there.

toysrevil yoka 3 Toys R Evil.

He included this vinyl toy as well: Molly Play To-Fu.

toysrevil molly play to fu 1 Toys R Evil.

“Kids, if you watch too much television, your head will also turn into a TV.” Hahaha…

toysrevil molly play to fu 2 Toys R Evil.

And then also included was this bubble keychain. :)

toysrevil bubble Toys R Evil.

So, I wanna send a big thanks to Andy, who really has one of the illest blogs about vinyl toys. If you are into it, you should definitely check out his blog at www.toysrevil.net.

toysrevil package Toys R Evil.

This post here also gives me the chance now to show you my other acquisitions from our trip to Japan last year, as I got these two King Kens.

king ken Toys R Evil.

But what I cherish the most are my Be@rbrick figures from Series 18 and also a Bape one by Medicom.

bearbricks 1 Toys R Evil.

Chrishimself already told this story about how I got very lucky at the atmos store, as I was looking for the Tetris Be@rbrick and that was the only one I wanted! I asked them if I could just buy the one they had on display, since they only got one unopened box left. (For startest: It’s a little bit like Kinder Überraschung, so it’s a sursprise, what figure is actually in a box!) But he denied, so Chris convinced me to take my chance! I opened up the box and a Tetris Be@rbrick was in it! :) The staff at the shop was also freaking out. Haha…

bearbrick series 18 tetris Toys R Evil.

There are also Hidden Be@rbricks in a series, so they are even more limited. I got this Spongebob one…

bearbrick series 18 hidden bearbrick spongebob Toys R Evil.

…and this one out of the Hidden Be@rbrick Series 18.

bearbrick series 18 hidden bearbrick Toys R Evil.

And of course, a Bape camouflage Be@rbrick should not be missing.

bearbrick bape Toys R Evil.

Here they are all together, having some fun.

bearbricks 2 Toys R Evil.

And if that was not enough, Chris got incredibly lucky in Tokyo when it came to vinyl toys!!!

09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

I know, I know, I know. 2010 is well under its way and that’s also the reason, why I didn’t get to do this post before. But it really needs to be done, because 2009 provided some great memories in three completely different cities on three continents, all along with some great friends – made possible by low air fares. For each one, I’ll have a video and 15 photos (I tried to cut it down, but it wasn’t possible, so you’ll get some more – click on them for bigger view). It all began in April, when I visited my homie Ben in Cairo.

CAIRO

RUNFFM 09 Memories Cairo 01 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

RUNFFM 09 Memories Cairo 02 1024x768 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

I was there. I saw them. I went into one. From that point on I knew, that they really exist. Insane!!!

RUNFFM 09 Memories Cairo 03 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

RUNFFM 09 Memories Cairo 04 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

I loved walking along the Nile. And I loved those lions at both ends of the Tahrir Bridge.

RUNFFM 09 Memories Cairo 05 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

RUNFFM 09 Memories Cairo 06 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

One evening, Ben and me wanted to go to the Citadel and got into this annual fair along one well known street in the old islamic part of Cairo (many mosques). And yes, the carrousels are hand operated. The kids enjoy it anywayz.

RUNFFM 09 Memories Cairo 07 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

Another evening, we ended up at a party on the 16th floor in Zamalek. There was also a pool on the roof. Yay!

RUNFFM 09 Memories Cairo 08 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

We also went on a Feluka, a sailboat, and of course there was no wind at all!!! But on 360 evenings a year, I would recommend this ride to you.

RUNFFM 09 Memories Cairo 09 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

Here, we were having something to drink after we got off the Feluka. Dope just to chill by the Nile at night.

RUNFFM 09 Memories Cairo 10 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

Downtwn Cairo has many, many beautiful buildings as you can see.

RUNFFM 09 Memories Cairo 11 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

The Tahrir, the busiest street junction in the city.

RUNFFM 09 Memories Cairo 12 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

As I was walking along the Nile, I discovered this market garden.

RUNFFM 09 Memories Cairo 13 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

You can’t go wrong with these type of pictures. Plus, you can see a highway bridge. There are many of them in the city – much to my surprise.

RUNFFM 09 Memories Cairo 14 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

Sport connects. We became friends on the basketball court. And even though we didn’t speak the same language, it was laughter all the way home. Hope, they are doing good.

RUNFFM 09 Memories Cairo 15 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

This picture was taken on my last evening in Cairo, when Ben took me to Hotel Windsor, where we had a great dinner. Ben must have been tired as hell, since I don’t remeber him having a good sleep during the two weeks I was there. But you can’t tell from the pic, right? Son ist looking good!

You’ll see these and many more photos in the following video. Some of them are blurred, so just take it with Egyptian ease. The feeling is essential. Also in this video you’ll see me climbing down into a pyramid, kids break-dancing and us crossing the street!!!

This was the most adventorous trip of them all and Cairo has so much energy, every second. Mother of all cities.

NEW YORK

In May it was time to travel to NYC along with Chris for a long weekend to check out some of them stores, the nightlife, and also to make a trip north to Boston to visit Simon.

RUNFFM 09 Memories NYC 01 1024x768 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

That’s the first thing lots of the immigrants saw back then, so that’s the first thing you’ll see here.

RUNFFM 09 Memories NYC 02 1024x768 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

The Manhattan skyline, photographed from Brooklyn.

RUNFFM 09 Memories NYC 03 768x1024 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

This is probably my favorite pic from NYC: Chris and me at atmos NYC in Harlem. Chris from atmos took this photo.

RUNFFM 09 Memories NYC 04 1024x768 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

This is dope. It’s not a sneaker store, it’s a warehouse up in Harlem.

RUNFFM 09 Memories NYC 05 1024x768 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

This is a church in Harlem. I took this pic while we were driving, because I was astonished by the shops it also contained.

RUNFFM 09 Memories NYC 06 1024x768 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

The board walk in Coney Island, Brooklyn.

RUNFFM 09 Memories NYC 07 1024x768 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

Everybody wants to take a pic of Chris at Times Square. Haha.

RUNFFM 09 Memories NYC 08 1024x768 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

When I can’t sleep, I think about the meaning of those words, which leads to me losing even more sleep.

RUNFFM 09 Memories NYC 09 768x1024 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

This is Chris in front of the DKNY sign on Hudson St. After being a fixture for years, it was taken down in the meantime, so we were lucky to just walk by it.

RUNFFM 09 Memories NYC 10 1024x768 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

A store in SoHo. For obvious reasons.

RUNFFM 09 Memories NYC 11 1024x768 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

Chris and me in Webster Hall.

RUNFFM 09 Memories NYC 12 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

RUNFFM 09 Memories NYC 13 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

These two photos above are just so NYC.

RUNFFM 09 Memories NYC 14 1024x768 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

I took this photo in a bar in Cambridge, near Boston.

RUNFFM 09 Memories NYC 15 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

Simon and me on the Harvard campus. Yes, he’s a smart kid.

This leaves our short film titled It’s about to go dowwwwwwwwwwwwn (that was the official slogan for our long weekend in the US) for your viewing pleasure. It starts with our arrival at the airport, I was then in New Jersey, while Chris took photos in Manhattan, we then drove to Coney Island, the next day SoHo and Webster Hall and the last day we were in Boston, before our night at the airport began.

New York really derserves all those songs. There’s a special vibe there.

TOKYO

Finally, Chris went to Tokyo for his documentation, so I joined him for a few days there.

RUNFFM 09 Memories Tokyo 01 1024x768 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

Shibuya crossing. You have to see the incredible amount of people with your own eyes.

RUNFFM 09 Memories Tokyo 02 768x1024 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

In Akihabara, you’ll find everything video game and gadget related. I even got me some t-shirt there.

RUNFFM 09 Memories Tokyo 03 1024x768 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

RUNFFM 09 Memories Tokyo 04 1024x768 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

These two photos should just show you, how tall I felt at times. For every tall person visiting Tokyo: Don’t wear hats. Believe me, you want to see what’s in front of your forehead.

RUNFFM 09 Memories Tokyo 05 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

Chris won a limited urban vinyl figure at Secret Base, so they took a Polaroid shot of him. If you ever see us on the street, we can also tell you a damn funny story on this one. Hehe.

RUNFFM 09 Memories Tokyo 06 768x1024 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

On Cat Street you’ll find a lot of stores. I really like this shot because of the three different buildings.

RUNFFM 09 Memories Tokyo 07 768x1024 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

I took this pic in HMV just to show you.

RUNFFM 09 Memories Tokyo 08 1024x768 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

Sleeping everywhere. I mean, come on.

RUNFFM 09 Memories Tokyo 09 1024x768 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

RUNFFM 09 Memories Tokyo 10 1024x768 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

Yoyogi Park. Rocky Rocky Joe.

RUNFFM 09 Memories Tokyo 11 1024x768 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

This was the river next to our hostel, we had to pass every day.

RUNFFM 09 Memories Tokyo 12 768x1024 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

This is the street of our hostel. Again can’t go wrong with a pic like this.

RUNFFM 09 Memories Tokyo 13 1024x768 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

That’s me in a BAPE store. Psssscht.

RUNFFM 09 Memories Tokyo 15 768x1024 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

This is a shot from Odabai, a large artificial island, that has developed since the 1990s as a major commercial, residential and leisure area.

RUNFFM 09 Memories Tokyo 14 1024x768 09 Memories: CAI, NYC, TKO

This was the spot I liked the most in Tokyo. You could take a walk without any cars or noise, but with this view of the city!!!

We made so many videos in Tokyo, but this one right here sums it up pretty well. You can find all the others here.

Tokyo is just another dimension. My first sight at the city was when I woke up on my ride from the airport and suddenly found myself as high as maybe the 10th floor of the buildings we passed, while two bridges under us crossed.

Let’s see what 2010 holds in font of us. Have a great year every day.

Stickers and Streetart around Tokyo

While shooting some footage around the Tokyo streets last August I kept recognizing these “sumo face” decals almost everywhere around Tokyo, alot of them in Harajuku and Asakusa somehow, streetart still seems to be big in Tokyo. I even saw a little documentary about these “sumo faces” if I can find it again I will post the youtube link below aswell.

I hope you enjoy this video its just a little compilation of streetart in Tokyo.

Nikon Coolpix s1000pj

The new Nikon Coolpix s1000pj is the first ever point and shoot digital camera with a built in projector !

Nikon

The Nikon Coolpix S1000pj itself has 12.1 megapixels and an 2.7 inch lcd display.
But what would you do with a build in projector except for obviously projecting some embarassing pictures of your friends on the wall !?

Well maybe you will get creative like the Helicopter Boyz in Japan did, check out their little performance in Yomiuri Land equipped with multiple Nikon Coolpix S1000pj.

Ultraman

How many of you are familiar with Ultraman (ウルトラマン) ?

Its a japanese science-fiction TV show that first aired in 1966, I just like how cheesy it looks and all those oldschool effects that were used to create a “futuristic feeling” for the viewer.

Amazon.com currently has a great deal on the complete series on DVD check it out here.
I think for that price it would be worth checking out, a few laughs are guaranteed :).

Robotoooo

We all know that someday we might all have to live underground and fight robots, but for now I just like how this little robot here walks and jumps.

The way it waits for a command also kind of reminded me of Astro Boy (Atom).
