E3 2011

Who here is also looking forward to the upcoming E3 ? it starts today! We already know that there will be a new Nintendo console scheduled for 2012 codenamed “Project Cafe” and a new portable Playstation console so far called the “Vita”. What is it with weird names for consoles these days !?!? What happened to the classic names that started with Super or Mega, wouldnt it be cool if Nintendo would just be like, “screw it with those artistic creative names lets just call it the super mega über-awesome nintendo dirty BIT! ” now that would be something!

But I’m sure they will come up with something like Nintendo Café au lait pffffff how awful did it already sound to ask your friends to play Wii !?

Names aside the schedule has been set and thankfully for us here in Germany the Nintendo press conference will be tomorrow at 6pm (18:00h) heres the official link to the livestream.

IGN also made a schedule and will be hosting a livestream for all the world premieres including the Nintendo, Microsoft and the Sony press conferences.
You can check it out over here.

First conference will be held today by Microsoft at around 6:30pm Germany time (according to the IGN page).

Of course the official E3 page also has a stream available, just in case. hosted by GT.

One Year

Today marks the day we first posted something on this domain RUNFFM.COM
That was one year ago, when we started this blog we just thought that it would be a nice idea to have something like a scrapbook online where we just file everything that we find in some way interesting, cool or inspirational.
For us that is sneakers, gaming, design, art, music, toys, movies, travelling, photography, videos, filmmaking, sports and alot more too much to mention.

Its basically our brains splattert accross this blog haha.
We will keep that spirit up and also do our best to step it up a notch for 2010 !

Also we made posts about our trips to different countries like the USA, Egypt and Japan.
Make sure to check out our 2009 round up post on our travels or just browse through our archives for the liveblogging experience.

About travel blogging I will soon visit Tokyo again and I’ll make sure to put up some vlogs too in the usual fashion, this time I will try to focus more on retro gaming in Japan since I’m a big fan of old videogames and videogame systems, especially the ones that never came out in our area.

I also want to thank the people that supported our blog and to everyone who helped spreading the word on facebook! Also big thanks for everyone who posted a link to our page recently.
That is much appreciated and dont be a stranger say hi sometimes!

Special shoutout to DJ Kitsune make sure to check out his blog and his mixshows on JamFM.

Another shoutout to the Beastin crew check out their lookbook, its amazing photography!

Like DJ Kitsune already said in his post about us, its always good to have the ambition to conquer the world but you should not forget your roots.

To another great year!
Representing Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

peace

My Nintendo DS is also a Synthesizer KORG DS-10

I have been seeing these cool videos where people make music with chiptune hacked Nintendo GameBoy’s and Famicoms and I kinda liked the idea of course you need some knowledge to do this but fortunately music company KORG released a software for the Nintendo DS a while ago already called KORG DS-10. It allows you to make funky music like this right here on your Nintendo DS.

It looked like enough fun to me to buy it and again fortunately at work we had one left and I got it for a good price :).

Since in germany the demand for synthesizer/music software for your Nintendo DS was not that high, they are not offered alot anymore but you can still find them for a good price here and there.

KORG also released a new edition called KORG DS-10 PLUS of the synthesizer in Japan, lets hope for the german fans out there that they will release it in our midst.  For those who cant wait its availible from Amazon.co.jp in a limited and standard edition.

Retro Gaming // Music Videos

I’m a big fan of retro gaming not because retro is “cool” nowadays its more because I grew up with it and I still find some of the stuff from the late 80s and 90s better than the stuff they put out today. Of course part of it is nostalgia but its also the skill gamemakers had back in those days with limited tools, was it the graphics or the music.

Please check Myk Dawgs aka. Myk31 webpage and videos out if you are into the oldschool 8bit era of videogame graphics. He makes graphics and music videos for different kinds of artists and I really like his style, its great to see people using the new tools to check out what you can do with some of the older technologies (like in chiptune music too).

One of his latest videos includes a collaboration between Mick Boogie and Peter, Björn and John called Stay This Way.

This video featuring the Kanye West track Robocop (808s & Heartbreak) has to be my favorite video as a big Mega Man (Rockman) fan.

Hope you enjoyed the videos and the music and please comment if you have some questions or suggestions :-).

Street Fighter IV

Maaan how I cant wait for this game to be released!!

I remember those Super Nintendo days when kids like me would queue around the consoles in the local malls to play the newest Street Fighter II or Street Fighter II Turbo and have little unofficial “mall tournaments”, while our parents would go shopping. Even though some of us had a console at home we would wait in line to play against these other kids at the mall.. weird huh?

Well its about the competition I guess and we in Germany actually never had those fancy arcades like the kids in the US or Japan have or used to have!? We only used to know that from holiday trips to the states or from weird 80′s B-movies.

When I was in Tokyo last year they had massive arcade gaming centers I mean they were HUGE,  go to Akihabara, Tokyo for sleepless gaming nights.

Now after a long long time Capcom is going to release Street Fighter IV on the 20th of February this year!!
