““Toy Masters” is the first ever feature-length documentary on the world-wide phenomenon that inspired an entire generation of children and became a billion dollar franchise –”Masters of the Universe”.”
Not gonna write a whole lot about it, people that know us, meaning Gandino (@theballatician) and me, just know..
Or let me put it the way Gandinos mom recently said it somehow literally translated into english “A thousand T-shirts but only one pair of jeans…”
Hey folks this weekend was packed again we had a meeting with the owner of our location for an upcoming event, that I will feature within the upcoming days, all I can say so far is that you should clear your schedule for the 25th of March ;)
We hit up some locations around Frankfurt for the upcoming event and I’m happy that we finally settled for something since time is running out quick, I guess some people already know where its going to be :)
This was a major plus for the location! A vintage Donkey Kong arcade cabinet !! After I’ve seen the documentary King of Kong I pay respect to all the pro Donkey Kong players out there!! mad props!
I also did some promo video production for producer Chris Mako and we did a photoshoot where I could try out the new limited Instax 50S.
Theres some more pictures on my twitter stream go ahead and find them ;)
We be keeping ourselves busy! TWITTER me with some comments & follow me @chrishimself84
100YEN is a documentary following the japanese arcade scene, its history and the big impact it had in Japan.
I will be looking forward for its release in fall 2011, the whole project was funded by donations of people on the internet with help by websites like kotaku.com
I’m glad that people still produce content like this and I nearly cant wait to get this on DVD :).
Anyways enjoy this preview right here, if you are into gaming like me then I am sure you will enjoy this.
A really cool documentary that follows football, art and music of Japanese immigrants in Sao Paulo.
The most famous one and main focus in this documentary is Tulio Tanaka who played for Japan in the current Worldcup 2010.
As I saw the trailer a few weeks ago, I already couldn’t wait for this little documentary NY-Z by director Danny Clinch, which is centered around Jay-Z‘s benefit concert at Madison Square Garden last year. It’s a little different from what I first expected, because it’s not all about the concert itself. That’s truly great, because it was nice to see something unexpected, combined with really dope visuals in this video.
From bricks to billboards. From Marcy to Madison Square. Enjoy.
As there is not much original concert content in it, I highly recommend to watch the complete concert from Sep, 11th, if you haven’t yet, so you can get an idea of the energy in the building as well as how Jay-Z connects with his audience. Especially how he does at the end – that’s what really standed out for me.
Just finished watching the documentary called The Invention of Dr. Nakamats, shot and directed by Kaspar Astrup Schröder and must say its pretty entertaining and informative at the same time. Dr. NakaMats (Nakamatsu Yoshirō) is the worldwide record holder in patents with more than 3300 inventions, compared to number two Thomas Edison with only 1093 inventions.
Dr. NakaMats is surely a personality and its nice that you can finally get a glimpse behind the scenes of a real inventor. The documentary is currently running on select filmfestivals you should keep track on either http://www.kasparworks.com or DFI.DK on the release.
Just finished watching a documentary called Toypunks, now what could that be?
Well the name suggests 50% Toys and 50% Punk and thats exactly what it is about, filled with interviews with noneother than the Bounty Hunter founder himself Hikaru Iwanaga, Frank Kozik and Secret Base founder Hiddy and some more.
You will get some insight into how urban vinyl came about and what was considered the first “design toy”.
Also inspiration for older and current design toys and the collectability of “UV” is explained well in this documentary.
They are currently producing the second volume and you can check out their production blog right here.
