I just returned home from watching the game with the homies!!! Man, we had a blast. This series could’ve gone on forever, but in the Dallas Mavericks we have a true championship team, that came a long way to finally be on top! Great to see all those players get their first ring.
For us over here, it’s obviously very special because of Dirk Nowitzki. The first German to win an NBA title. And it’s crazy, that he’s just a kid, that grew up just a one hour drive away from Frankfurt, just behind the border to Bavaria, and that a few people, that I got to know through basketbal, even have crossed their ways with him either in the youth teams, as coaches or on the national team. And now he’s NBA Champ and on a little sidenote MVP of the Finals.
This gives me the opportunity to finally unveil this little gem.

Yeah, it’s a poster with his name on it! But look again…
He might be the guy in the back waiting to check into the game, but he certainly ain’t the dark-haired guy finishing with the layup nor did he ever wear #11!!!
It must have been the eraly 2000s when I found this poster at our local SPORT LOEBL store. I just had to buy it. I didn’t even ask the staff or told them, that there was something completely wrong with this poster.
In 2003 Dirk played with the German national team here in Frankfurt against Turkey. After the game the court was invaded by the masses. I was a part of it, as I wanted his signature on it. Or at least, that he would notice, that something is wrong. But he was so busy getting his autograph on every single item, that he didn’t even look at what he was signing.
So that’s really his autograph right there above the knees.
Long story short: CONGRATS, DIRK! HARD WORK PAYS OFF!! BE PROUD, GERMANY!!!
