New DJ Kitsune Mixtape 1-2-3-4 Vol. 01 – Voices

Hey this is so fresh out of the oven make sure you dont burn your hands!
A new mixtape by DJ Kitsune free to download via. this link – download (somehow the file has no ending, when you finished downloading put the *.mp3 into the filename manually)

1 voices New DJ Kitsune Mixtape 1 2 3 4 Vol. 01 Voices

– quoting from DJ Kitsunes website –

“1-2-3-4″ is a new mixtape series consisting of (obviously) four parts, dropping every sunday before christmas. Each part focuses on a different aspect of things I love about music and will contain hiphop, rnb, some soulful pop stuff – simply great music, at least in my playbooks. The songs are not necessarily singles but records that I think showcase the characteristics of each volume (e.g. the issue with the name “Rhymes” is obviously not so much about the beats, but about dope lyricism and strong songwriting).

To start it off, this very first Volume of “1-2-3-4″ is all about VOICES, which not only means singers and rappers with unique voices, but also new talents, trendsetters, writers and performers. Artists that have dropped their very first songs or their debut album in 2010, artists that are new, people you should get familiar with, if you aren’t already. I did not do any name dropping on the cover artwork – remember, this is about incredible music, and I promise you will love these songs, even if you do not know the artist yet. Nevertheless, you’ll find the tracklisting in the comments. If you like certain artists and songs, please do yourself a favor and follow up on these musicians – they all deserve your support. Same goes for me, if you love my little christmas mixtapes, tell your friends and send them over. Credit cards welcome.

– quoting from DJ Kitsunes website –

now what you waiting for go download!

peace

Crada everywhere.

OK, maybe I’ll continue with some more Berlin-realted posts for a minute. But for a special reason.

About a month ago, hypebeast.tv posted this very nice video about the new creative space in Berlin: MADE. I already mentioned it in my last Berlin post, when I talked about meeting Phil-G., who is one of the people responsible for this unique project. The others are Nico Zeh, Tadi Rock & Luise Biesalski.

But more specifically this video also gives us an impression of their second event called ‘Typographic Ballet’ that featured Ebon Heath & rapper Talib Kweli both from Brooklyn.

If you did pay attention to the music in the background, great! And if you did not, you should just check again, because I could listen to it ALLLLLLLLL day. It is beautifully done by Frankfurt located producer Crada (@the_real_crada), who also was part of this event and who did some tracks for internationally known artists The LOX, KiD CuDi, Drake & Nneka featuring NaS. His latest production is for L.A. rapper Jay Rock. Here’s the video for the song, that is also part of Jay Rock’s upcoming mixtape ‘Black Friday’. You can listen to the other tracks on his SoundCloud profile.

I’m hoping to listen to a lot more good stuff from this kid. Keep it up!

From Berlin With Love, wa! (Part 3)

Allright, here we go for the last write-up of my Berlin trip. On Thursday, Simon and me stopped by SOTO to check out the opening of their exhibition “Lonely Fruit” containing photographs by Alastair Philip Wiper, that are showing the isolation of a person, an animal or an object in their surroundings – sometimes lost and confused, sometimes tranquil and at peace – but always with a wink.

5195045112 fc93fcacb9 From Berlin With Love, wa! (Part 3)

We had to be quiet early, because we had tickets for a show in the Friedrichstadtpalast that evening, but check Phil-G.‘s pics for prove that the place was packed later on.

5194444055 16d71d6a8a From Berlin With Love, wa! (Part 3)

There were also some photographs hanging in the showrooms.

5194444317 9672ce865e From Berlin With Love, wa! (Part 3)

Above you see Omer & Phil-G. of SOTO in conversations and I have to say they are really good hosts. After I introduced myself and gave them our stickers, Phil-G. immediately placed one on this bench kind of thing here.

5195045322 21d36971af From Berlin With Love, wa! (Part 3)

That’s me with Phil-G. He used to work for BBB (Bread & Butter Berlin), but has now moved on as co-founder of SOTO and MADE (a cool project to offer space, possibilities and a forum to creative minds), plus he also blogs for Highsnobiety and hails from Frankfurt. Was really cool to meet him finally.

5195045532 7c0b90974d From Berlin With Love, wa! (Part 3)

And that’s me with Omer, who also co-founded SOTO and founded ArtSchoolVets, a very well-known German blog, that also offers cool fashion items in cooperation with different designers in their store. It’s really worth to check that out. It was also really great to be able to meet him. Oh, and how could it be any different: He’s also from Frankfurt. Ajaklaaaaaaaaa. :)

5194444507 a61c7782b6 From Berlin With Love, wa! (Part 3)

As I already mentioned above, we had to rush over to Friedrichstadtpalast for the show YMA.

5187659103 c39c492bba From Berlin With Love, wa! (Part 3)

It is really hard to desribe this show with words – it offers everything… music, dancing, acrobatics, lights, fire, water and even some worldly wisdoms in between – so check out the trailer. With over 100 performers this show is by the way bigger than any Las Vegas production. Anywayz, highly recommended…!!!

Also the venue is kinda crazy. The Friedrichstadtpalast is the world’s biggest theatre stage and was built in 1984 by the regime of the German Democratic Republic. I also think, that with all the stage mechanics it also offers all possibilities for directors, you could think of.

5195045752 81dc6e7625 From Berlin With Love, wa! (Part 3)

On my last day there, we had lunch in the Funkturm Restaurant

5190093070 2613857966 From Berlin With Love, wa! (Part 3)

…55 meters above Berlin. Unfortunately, the weather sucked, so the view was not as great as it could have been, but…

5195044990 27c370c0cc From Berlin With Love, wa! (Part 3)

… the food was really good.

5189503723 33dc520c85 From Berlin With Love, wa! (Part 3)

As it was everywhere during my stay in Berlin. I had a fun time, big thank you to Simon for hosting me and I’m already looking forward to my next trip to that city.

FFM less than three divided by half.

Good morning, afternoon or evening!

First of all I hope you enjoyed @theballaticians Berlin posts, after seeing all these dope stores I might consider just moving there and the rent is cheap too I heard.
But when it comes to the city of your choice then for me it is Frankfurt am Main, yes it still is, even though my headline wont suggest that if you got it at all.
Locals know that FFM stands for Frankfurt am Main but I started this blog with a pun intended, you know I am a NERD if it comes to things like that, basically I was born
with a computer and the internet was the afterbirth. I never forgot that I might aswell use this blog to represent my local scene around Frankfurt,
help other people promote their partys and clubs maybe, though this was never the main intention of this blog, because it is just a list of things that Andi and I like.
Well you might say, isnt clubbing something that most people like? Well probably…
I could say that I enjoyed going to clubs in NYC, Tokyo, Manila, Seoul and Hong Kong the past few years but Frankfurt mhhh
I will explain and that might sound a bit generalized but that is also just my own personal point of view and its actually pretty funny that I only discovered this in
Frankfurt.

People are the most ungrateful in Frankfurt, what makes me say that!?
Now I heard that alot before, but it would never occur to me that this is actually in some ways true.
See we dont take money or work for clubs in Frankfurt but still we think that its cool to sometimes help out by promoting their partys online, maybe I’ll make some video
or even club shots all for free, because I like the venue, the music etc.

Alot of people made profit through that, if I just think about how many got inspired by our URL and stickers or our own T-Shirts, to make their “own” T-Shirts.. LOL.

But dont try to ask them for anything, even the smallest favour will upset those ungrateful pigs.
One week you are their strongest supporter and the next week they treat you like shit you might talk to some “manager” and they would not even remember that
you helped them out big time the week before, for free.

See I dont know why I should keep doing that? Not for Frankfurt am Main at least.

“They love you, then they hate you, then they love you again”
Chrishimself

PS: We still love and appreciate our true supporters.

Back home…

Hey everybody, just in between… I’m back home again…

… but my suitcase is still M.I.A. and I’m off for some family business now, then off to watch our beloved SGE play, then off to referee some b-ball games. And don’t be suprised to se me here tonight – also fresh out of the plane. :)

The final Berlin post will be up by tomorrow. Promise!

Tachchen.

So I arrived in Berlin after having no sleep the night before, because we had to celebrate our first win of the season, and went with Simon, who now lives in Berlin, diiiiiirectly on the Touristenverarsche-Tour and to the Kurt Krömer Benefizgala in the evening.

Simon also found this book called ‘Take Ivy’ that contains photographs of men and their clothes shot on the Ivy campuses. It was originally published in Japan in 1965 and started the “Ivy Style” fashion among students in Tokyo. And as Simon told me not much has changed on the campuses fashionwise in all those years. And if somebody should know about that, it’s him, but I won’t drop the H-bomb now. :)

Bubble Tea and Azuki Bean Action

On wednesday I was supposed to have japanese class again for the first time after a bunch of years, instead it fell through because the teacher assigned to something else that day, pretty wack if you ask me because I got up early for this lol.
Instead I went to get some bubble tea with these two “gauweeds” ;)

5169215350 ebf9ca441f Bubble Tea and Azuki Bean Action

5168615131 47b25f13e6 Bubble Tea and Azuki Bean Action

The cups with the purple color are taro flavoured which is some sort of a root vegetable, the black stuff inside is called tapioka pearls, in east asia where this drink is popular they call these “boba”,
tapioka is also a sort of root plant.

5169215498 7f9b405b13 Bubble Tea and Azuki Bean Action

The other one is a mix of jasmine tea and jelly blocks, the taste was really refreshing and light the taro one felt a bit more “heavy” but the taste was good.

We also got to try these little things that sorta look like fish eggs to me lol, but it turned out that its basil seeds. In vietnam they use those to give their drinks a little freshness kick.

We tried these amazing azuki bean strawberry latte drinks. Thinking of it everything we drank or ate this day had some odd bean or pearls inside haha.

It was a tad too sweet for my taste but I enjoyed it anyway, nonetheless for how nicely they prepared those drinks.
