I’ll admit, that during my day-to-day-life I don’t get to watch or read the news stories very often, and that also this is not the original theme of this blog, but what has happened earlier this month to people in Haiti is nothing short of heart shattering. CNN has five 360° videos on the current situation here.
Haiti may be a place that’s far, far away for you, but also people from your community could be directly affected by this tragedy. I found out, that the family of two basketball players, who play for MTV Kronberg (close to Frankfurt) has lost six of their family members, including three kids. I don’t know David or Dominik personally, but I was interested in their story, because I do know some other players of that team and attend their games quite often.
Their dad went back to Haiti – shortly after visiting his family there for Christmas – to assist people in need as a doctor. Their adoptive brother from New York immediately took a flight to the Dominican Republic to supply the family with water, food and medicine. That’s what family is about. I think, we all can learn something from that.

I know times are tough for everyone, but we cannot compare what’s going on to the people of Haiti, that already went through so much, but still were happy people and in the right direction with their country. So on behalf of the Duclervil family I ask you to show your support accordingly to your possibilities – it is still needed. Here’s how:
The 5€ admission of the up-coming home game of MTV Kronberg is applied to their campaign and there will also be a tombla with some SKLINERS stuff (and I guess certainly more, but that was the only thing I heard about this) as well as a box for additional contributions: Saturday, 30 January – 19:30 – Altkönigschule, Le-Lavandou-Straße, Kronberg – I’ll be there!
For a donation, they have their own donation account (German account – #368091088 – „Riepel/Die Familie braucht dich“ – BLZ 51050015: Nassauische Sparkasse) and also listed those of organizations here on their site. (By the way, NIKE, David’s employer, is going to double the donations made by its employees, which is also a great move.)
Freiraum Frankfurt (Brückenstraße 36, Frankfurt) has a charity sale event going on this evening (Friday) starting at 19:00 (more details). It was supposed and still is for drinking water projects in Kenya, but they also have a box for your Haiti donations. Personally, I also think that this is going to be a cool event, so I hope I can be there!
Many well known musicians contributed to an album titled ‘Hope for Haiti Now‘. All proceeds will benefit support for Haiti.
UNDRCRWN, a brand that’s largely inspired by basketball, now offers limited ASSIST HAITI tees (all proceeds will go to YELE, Wyclef Jean’s organization).
There are many, many, many other possibilities and this leads me to all those organizations you know and heard about, if you want to contribute that way. Many hearts and souls will be thankful.
I think this post is now long enough and y’all know what to do, so I just leave you with some wise words on this subject by Jay Smooth.
Still looking for an all white Air Max Light ?
Look no further this is the Air Max Light “Snow White”, although I would be even more paranoid about my sneakers than I already am wearing those in the streets haha.

So, I took action and added some winter styles to my closet from people I would consider to be experts in dealing with cold winters: BEASTIN’ from Munich and NORSE PROJECTS from Copenhagen.
BEASTIN’ has these two cool accessories in their collection: the Bodega Bommel Beanie & the Hool Scarf. Lord Chief Rockaaaaa!!!
For the past two years, these guys blessed us already with some great and refreshing styles, so we all can look forward to what’s coming up. On the scarf you can see their trademark ‘B’ along with the lightning.
Then, I also got the Striped Fold Up Beanie by NORSE PROJECTS. I read about them in the recent BRIGHT Magazine and immediately checked their site. It’s a shop in Copenhagen that opened up in 2004 and released their first own clothing collection in 2009. Aaaaaaand, you can tell that I’m kind of sick right now!!! :-)
If you ever should be in Copenhagen, here’s the address – or just check their online store:
In my opinion this is a very cool way to spend your time: Creating these little characters out of LEGO bricks. There is a flickr group for that called CubeDudes and I’ll show you those I liked the most.

Two years ago, it seemed like he was everywhere, so you won’t miss him here neither. Flava Flaaaaav…
I didn’t film too much with my new Kodak Zi-6, because I often just forgot to. There were so many booths to check out and we met and talked to some cool people, too. I just randomly walked into Flo, who designed our stickers, we got just in time for this weekend, so what you saw in the video was really the world premiere of our sticker. Of course, we talked to the always friendly people from A-Game, who distribute The Hundreds plus some more brands including Sixpack France & UNDRCRWN in Germany (Thanks for the dope stickers!). Also Chris from Beastin was mad beastin as we walked into him, while being nice to talk to. And we met Robert from Freebase Sneakers as well and got some updates. Stay tuned for those!!!
Anywayz I think it’s a nice little video including a classic opening and at the end a Swedish shoutout for Unbreakable, who all were also very cool to us.
It’s just sad to see the Bright Tradeshow move to Berlin now. As one exhibitor put it correctly: “Everyone can do Berlin, but not everyone can do Frankfurt.” Worrrrrrrd!!!
Hey like last year we went out to see the latest in streetwear at the Bright Tradeshow in Frankfurt am Main.
It was held at the old police department building in Frankfurt same like last year, actually this is going to be the last time the tradeshow will be hosted by the city of Frankfurt since it will move to Berlin.
For us locals its sad to hear that another institution of the local streetwear and skatescene is moving to another city that already has big tradeshows like bread and butter, but what can you do.
Anyways heres some shots of our visit today, I think we will also have a little videoclip ready sometime next week since Andi (RUNFFM theballatician) recorded some scenes with his new hd cam while we were roaming around the building.
Don’t remeber, where I stumbled upon this video, but I wanted to share it with you anywayz. Apparently, these are all scenes from the movie Fully Flared by Spike Jonze & Ty Evans.
Amazing and innovative videos like this may also get people interested in a scene or a community that they are not (yet) part of it, so I think it’s a great idea.
And by the way, this weekend Frankfurt will host the Bright Tradeshow, we also been to last year. They had a skate park outside, but maybe there will some snowboarding happen this time around??? :-) I don’t know, but we will have all the updates for you soon.
It seems like you can’t escape New York. And you may not escape Chinese brand Li-Ning in the near future, as they already signed NBA players Shaquille O’Neal, Baron Davis and Jose Calderon. But the honor of premiering the first Chinese brand on an NBA court belongs to Damon Jones, who was with the Cleveland Cavaliers at that time.
This is an awesome video of Baron Davis running through New York City along with his basketball. I remember that he tweeted all the time during this day and let people know where he’s gonna be. So, you may follow him (@Baron_Davis), but you can follow his beard (@boomsbeard) as well. Also some msic artists are featured in this video. Common shows some nice handles, while Jim Jones is BAAALLLLLLIIIIINNNNGGGGGGGG!!!!
Just saw this video by SneakGeekZ of the new and first Kixclusive Store in SoHo, New York. Looks really nice and contains some incredible kicks. Definitely a spot to put on my NYC to-visit-list: 288 Mulberry Street (E. Houston) NY, NY 10012.
P.S.: They even have some BAPE stuff listed in their online store.
In other sneaker related news, German mailorder and record store hhv drops the NIKE Rivalry Pack consisting of the NIKE x DJ AM Dunk High Premium and the NIKE x DJ Premier Air Force 1 Low Premium instore this Friday, Jan 15th, at noon: Revaler Straße 9, 10245 Berlin-Friedrichshain
At around 5pm you should check their online store for what’s still left, if you are interested.
Does anybody know of other releases of those sneakers in Germany???
(UPDATE – 17:20: Overkill Shop in Berlin will get the DJ AM Dunk “within the next days”.)
And since I began this post with SoHo, New York, I’m gonna end this post with SoHo New York. Here’s itsbongoboy’s video from the pre sale of the pack at NIKE SB’s 21 Mercer Street store. Had to laugh out lout on two intances.
Just finished watching the documentary called The Invention of Dr. Nakamats, shot and directed by Kaspar Astrup Schröder and must say its pretty entertaining and informative at the same time. Dr. NakaMats (Nakamatsu Yoshirō) is the worldwide record holder in patents with more than 3300 inventions, compared to number two Thomas Edison with only 1093 inventions.
Dr. NakaMats is surely a personality and its nice that you can finally get a glimpse behind the scenes of a real inventor. The documentary is currently running on select filmfestivals you should keep track on either http://www.kasparworks.com or DFI.DK on the release.
Got some new Nike Dunks in the so called varsity red colorway, classic, nothing too fancy.
Cant wait to wear these this spring when all the snow is gone.
